The Community Building Administration plays a central role in the municipality's development and works with issues that affect people's daily lives - today and for future generations. Through close collaboration and high competence, we create conditions for a sustainable, safe, and well-planned society. The Building and Environmental Unit contributes with specialist knowledge in the planning and building area and is an important driving force in the municipality's long-term community building.

Building and Environmental Manager

The Community Building Administration is seeking a unit manager for the Building and Environmental Unit. The role is broad and overarching - both strategic and operational - and the tasks will vary between large and complex issues to more detailed ones. You will be involved in matters and cases that concern our community here and now - and in the future.

The unit currently consists of 11 employees, and a large part of the assignment is to lead and engage your employees to best utilize and develop their skills, as well as actively support the employees in their role as authorities. Together with colleagues in the management group of the Community Building Administration, you will also be a natural partner in our municipality-wide projects, where different functions must interact for our society to develop in the best way.

The focus of this role will be on planning and building, which means we expect you to possess knowledge and skills related to the planning and implementation of construction projects, as well as an understanding of the legislation governing these processes - primarily the Planning and Building Act (PBL). This includes everything from interpreting detailed plans and handling building permit applications to following construction regulations and ensuring that projects meet established requirements.

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree in the construction and/or environmental field or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent and meritorious. You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Environmental Code, and other laws regulating the area.

You have a professional approach, take initiative, and find it easy to collaborate with different people. Furthermore, you are a confident leader who has the ability to motivate and support the organization based on goal management, development, and follow-up. You are attentive and see communication as a natural way to create participation, engagement, and pride - both internally and externally.

It is an advantage if you have previous experience of how a politically governed organization and its decision-making processes work. Experience from the public sector is particularly meritorious, but we also welcome those with a background in the private sector - especially if you have experience leading qualified work in the construction or environmental field. To succeed in the role, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
